The Mortician 3D

Aria Films and Full Circle Films collaborate with Axis3D to produce The Mortician 3D feature film thriller.

London, UK, 8 April 2008 – London-based production companies, Aria Films and Full Circle Films are in the early discussions with established equipment hire and post-production facility Axis3D to produce what is expected to be one of the first UK feature films to be shot and posted using newly-available 3D technology.
The Mortician is a redemption tale where kindness triumphs over cruelty and falls within the genres of urban noir, contemporary fairytale and psychological thriller. The film is set in the
nightmare ghetto of a decaying metropolis and is based around about one man’s struggle through the violence and corruption of a dying city. The Mortician processes corpses with a steely regard and as a borderline autistic, he is alienated. Through his emotionless and unsympathetic actions he spreads his coldness to all he encounters.
The Mortician’s attention is pricked by the tattoo of Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’ on the body of a murdered young woman, Jenny. A fleeting recognition triggers a sequence of haunting dreams from his childhood. He discovers a scared child, Kane, fleeing the morgue. The danger that confronts them forces the Mortician to awake from his icy state as he is compelled to forge real emotional links with both the living and the dead.
The film script was written and is set to be directed by Full Circle Films’ principal, Gareth Maxwell Roberts and produced by Aria’s Helmer Carlo Dusi, who in 2006 produced Roberts’s debut feature «Kill Kill Faster Faster» starring Gil Bellows, Lisa Ray and Esai Morales. Casting is currently
under way through casting director Eve Battaglia in New York, and principal photography is anticipated for the first quarter of 2009.
As part of its involvement in the project, Axis3D is looking to provide all of the necessary equipment required for the shooting of the film in 3D utilising the latest developed internally by the company. All supervision of the 3D process is undertaken by experienced colourist, Victor Riva who uses the Axis3D suite situated at Concrete in Dean Street, Soho in London and this film anticipates cinematic delivery in 2D and 3D.
And the last word goes to Tim Reynolds, from Axis3D who says: «Having met the producers of The Mortician, we are very excited about getting started on The Mortician. It’s great to work with a production company that understands the 3D stereoscopic process and are as enthusiastic about its creative possibilities. Axis3D will create everything in 3D from providing camera equipment to working with Concrete on vfx, convergence edits and up to 4K grades.»
